Book Swap

In your last post to this blog, you wrote about why you really enjoyed a particular book. Many of you used excellent detail and examples to explain your choice vividly. Now it's time to assess your classmates' persuasive abilities.

1. Browse through the posts from the last assignment: Establishing Your Voice: Books.

2. Find three people who read books that sound interesting and leave them a comment that tells them why you thought their post was persuasive.

3. Post a comment to this blog telling me which three people you commented and why.

Hey... you might even want to pick up a book before the vacation next week!

Hola again Mrs. Morrison. I chose "Impulse" from Kaila's blog because of how well she desrcibed it, plus I think it'd be interesting to read a book about people in a Mental Hospital since I read a book (I forget the name) over the summer about a boy who was in a mental hospital.
I also chose Pete's book "The Catcher in the Rye" because I absolutely adore Holden and how he thinks. I also enjoyed that Pete told us what he would enjoy in the book, so that maybe we would enjoy it as well.
The final blog entry I chose was Tage's on Night. Probably the best book ever other than To Kill a Mockingbird. I like how she explained why and how enthusiastic she was for it. Overall, we have some good books here.

I commented on quite a few people's book posts. One person I chose was Bryanna because the book she wrote about was so interesting and I really want to read it now. I also commented on Alison's post because her idea for a novel she'd like the write was SO interesting. I would really like her to write it so I can read it. I then commented on John's post because he completely trashed Beowulf and I was applauding him. I hated Beowulf and the way he expressed his mutual hatred was fun to read. :)

I commented on Bryanna's book. I've read that book and had a different opinion, so I thought I'd comment on it.
I also commented on Caitlin's because the book sounded interesting. It sounded like it might be by one of my favorite authors.
I also commented on Giacinto's because the series he was talking about sounded really good. I love Disney and twists on classics are some of my favorite things.

Jose's post on Darren Shan's 'Cirque du Freak' look really cool. I've only read one of the books in the series, really, and I liked it, but I never got into the series itself. The way Jose talks about it, though, makes me want to check it out even more.

Then Giacinto's Kingdom Keeper series look AWESOME. I'm a big Disney fan, been one all my life, hell, I grew up with Disney. 1992 was a big year for them, what with 'Aladdin', 'A Muppet's Christmas Carol', and 'The Mighty Ducks'. So to read about Disney, for me, would be even cooler than watching the movies.

Then of course, Kaila's book 'Impulse' really struck me. I have a sort of small fascination with Asylums. There is something very creepy and foreboding about them, so I definitely want to check that out.

Hello. I commented on kaila's, jose's, and giacinto's. All there descriptions were really deep and they made the summerys good.
Kaila's book was interesting and it sounds complex. I think i would be scared to be in a insane hosipital. I think it would really pull me in.
Jose's book is being made into a movie that i cant wait to see. I love vampire books so this is right up my alley.
Giacinto's book is awesome. It sounds like its all action and suspense and it would be really cool to read about it

I commented Bryanna, Giacinto, and Alison's page.I chose Bryanna because just by reading her post it made me really want to read the book, "Do You Know The Monkey Man." What attracted me the most was how the character's sister drownded when she was young and then the character receives a phone call from the sister. Now I want to read the book to find out what happens in the story. I chose Giacinto because the "Kingdom Keeper" series seems very intersting. I love Disney and I've never read a good book that was about the Disney characters that wasn't a childrens book. I like how the books have all different Disney characters and how it takes place in different Disney parks. I think I would really enjoy reading the books. And I chose Alison because "Winkie" is about a teddy bear. I think its very interesting how the teddy bear in the story gets accused of things people get accused of. I feel a book about the life of a teddy bear would be a very good book.

I commented Pete, Taje, and Bryanna about the books they talked about. I commented Pete's because he talked about the Catcher in the Rye. I heard this was an amazing book from everybody who has read it. Taje's book was Night. I too have read this book and it helped me realize the pain and suffering that the Jews went though during the Holocaust. Bryanna's book was Do You Know the Monkey Man? The title was just really weird so I kind of had to comment on it.

I really liked Kaila's book "Impulse". It normally wouldn't be my choice of book, but for this book, I'll make an exception. I also liked Alison's "Winkie". I think it's interesting how they give a teddy bear all these human problems. I also picked Tage's "Night" because come on, who doesn't like "Night"? It's written so well and the story is amazing.
